Have you ever perused the internet to learn more about a union, frustrated to find out that you can’t find what you’re looking for? Not true with Ontario’s International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. A few years ago, we saw the developing need to keep in touch with potential new members and our current members online. Being on social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube gives us a way to communicate with our members, potential union members, businesses and so much more in way that we never thought was possible. Now, we’re so used to being on line, it’s hard to think that we ever did without it.
Which begs the question, are you following us online?
Monthly, we post new articles on our website that could be helpful to you. Information on your trade, political activism, upcoming events and even our newsletter. We utilize this tool to post health and safety training courses, important benefit updates and more. Make sure to bookmark our site so it’s always easy for you to find.
Moreover, we use Facebook to post interesting industry news and news from our office. We like to post pictures, send congratulations and keep you posted on industry-related news and events. It’s a great forum for us to receive feedback and see how things are going with our members.
Twitter (@OntarioPainters) is another place where we can build relationships and post pertinent information. It’s easy to carry on a conversation and participate in the now.
YouTube is where we house The Russo Report, a monthly online “magazine” where our fearless leader, Joe Russo, talks about important union information like recruitment, updates on union happenings like negotiations, benefit changes and more. YouTube is a great information tool as well as a way to introduce people to what IUPAT is all about.
