On Thursday, December 4, 2014, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 46 celebrated the grand opening of their new office headquarters located at 132 Toro Road in Toronto, Ontario.
The new building not only houses the administrative offices of D.C.46, but also houses the offices of its benefit plan administrators as well as a new union hall where local union meetings will be held. “We are very proud of our new headquarters,” said D.C. 46 BM/ST Joe Russo. “The building offers our members ‘one stop shopping’ with respect to all their union inquiries, health and welfare and pension questions as well as their Local Union meetings. We have had an extremely enthusiastic response to the new building from our members, contractors and the community at large.”
In addition to IUPAT members, contractors and industry partners, the grand opening attracted many special guests including three Ontario Provincial Ministers, Minister of Finance Charles Sousa, Minister of Labour Kevin Flynn, and Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca. IUPAT General President Kevin Rigmaiden, and General Secretary Treasurer George Galis were also on hand for the Grand Opening.
