IUPAT (International Union of Painters and Allied Trades)District Council 46, Local 1819 is looking for experienced residential glaziersto join the union in order to take advantage of upcoming job opportunities inthe Toronto area. Glaziers cut, fit, install and replace windows, metal frames,glass and aluminum doors, and glass and metal fixtures on new construction,including residential high rises being built in the Greater Toronto Area. Somework will be completed on the ground level while a majority will be done usingscaffolding, riggers and ladders at some significant heights. Diverse projectslike these also give you the ability to really show off your artistic skills incertain cases.

Why participate in the Union? Union wages are higher withpossible annual wage increases. Moreover, wages are currently being paid outhigher in this sector. Union members also receive vacation pay two times peryear and a pension play that is being supported by the employee. Are You Interested inBecoming a Residential Glazier?

Great! IUPAT District Council 46, Local 1819 can help, afteryou’ve finished your stint in trade school. Then, we can offer bothapprenticeship and journeyman opportunities on residential high rises andmore.  When you’re ready to become anapprentice, you are able to work on commercial job sites and residential ones,like high rises. If you keep on track with education and on-site training, youshould be able to complete your apprenticeship program in approximately 4years. Once your apprenticeship is complete, you then become a journeyman. Thisallows you to work on glazing opportunities through IUPAT. And, because of thehigh demand in this sector, IUPAT offers the chance to become a registeredapprentice even if you have no prior experience in this industry. Additionalopportunities are open to certified journeymen if you’re the right candidate.
